For Allah’s will

Darkness crept in at night
Devouring every glimpse of light
“justice” a distant fainting word
Only traitor’s waltz in sight

The reign of terror yearning power
Consumed with fury, rage and anger
expanded their evil empire,
Spread like cancer, every hour

A lonely tent stood still
As if it were by Allah’s will
Broken arrows, broken swords,
Blood stained bodies across the hill
All were lost but Allah’s will
All were lost but Allah’s will

There she was, our righteous lady
Our holy lady, our lonely lady
In the depth of haze and dust
By the shadows of fear and unjust
She screamed:
“Who is there to help me, in my flight towards the light?”
“Who is there to follow, who is left to search for light?”

The world stood still,
As if it were by Allah’s will
And in the time of deep distress
In the world of hopelessness
Someone lit a candle….
Our lady said:
In search of light, candles aflame
Deny injustice, candles aflame
Praise our martyrs, candles aflame
For my brother’s blood, candles aflame
For our children’s lives, candles aflame
For Allah’s will, candles aflame….

1929

1
9
2
9

I take a jug of wine,
spit destiny in the face,
but then surrender to the reality
there is no immortality
not for the mind and not for the soul
but the bitter taste of wine
keeps me sober for a while
to remind me of the crash of 29
of nineteen twenty nine

actions and consequences,
endless perpetual sequences
of treachery, distrust and paranoiac deeds
of schizophrenic balderdash
imprisons not one; but all
and nothing would be fine
after 1929

and their women became PERSONS in 29
and our PERSONS are being confined to their homes in 29
and BBC televised the news in 29
and our television is now banned in 29
and conflict started by the Western Wall in 29
and now we are surrounded by international walls in 29

war, war and more war
hate, revulsion and disgust
lies, corruption and deceit
murder, rape and imprisonment
would not bring me a virgin in heavens
and nothing would be fine
after 1929

Oh cupbearer, pour more wine
Ah gatekeeper, draw the line
Ah moon-watcher, show me a sign
And promise me everything would be fine
After resolution 1929

A sin, a lie

It’s not a sin to wish to be happy
even if “the end” has long time passed
and to sin is to lie and to lie is to sin
so where do we go from here?

It’s not a lie to be what you are
even if what you are is “nothing”
and nothing can be something, if we find
a single joy in our lives.

And the question remains: “are you enjoying what you are?”
Alcohol, Sex, Drugs, come as you are
bring the temporary joy for this incremental being
and just “be” even for a nano-second
just enjoy
even for a drunken minute, or a high in the sky, a joyous breath

To be happy is to love,
from inside, from outside, from every conceivable angle
and what if there is no love?
and what if what you think is love is just
an elevated emotional rollercoaster

A sin, a lie

a piece of worthless span
between “the end” and the “coming” and the “nothing”

Princes of lonely hearts

Pray for rain, pray for Leila,
She’s dancing in her father’s arms
Watch the clouds, watch them Leila,
Making pictures in your sky.

You are
Faraway now, in the space now, left a
scar inside our hearts
You were
A shining light into the dark, could you hear us call your name?
Leila, Leila, Leila, Leila
Princess of lonely hearts

Pray for love, pray for freedom
Pray now for going home
Pray for millions in exile now, Leila
They all now want to go home

Did you see the people?
Shedding tears for you?
Did you hear their broken hearts …….?
Did you feel their loving?
It is you that they’re loving .
Did you know they’re lonely too …..?

Oh I wished you were here, So at least
you could hear,
The wall of fear, breaking down…
The lonely hearts are beating, and the
clouds are roaring
They’re just waiting for your smile ….

Leila, Leila, Leila, Leila
Princess of lonely hearts

Guide the clouds, pray for guidance, Leila
Pray for rain in the month of June.
Pray for dance in the rain, Leila,
Pray for flowers in the dune.

You are
Flying high, in to the sky now, kissing clouds as you pass by,
Would you
Pray for rain, one more time, would you let us call your name?

Leila, Leila, Leila, Leila
Leila, Leila, Leila, Leila
Leila, Leila, Leila, Leila

Princess of lonely hearts

Anything but violence

Indicative obsession with results
Analytical conviction in deadlines, storylines, lines between the lines
Credence in linear time, and numbers, years, months, hours,
even seconds that count down the arrival of the Messiah
the second coming, the third or the nth?
Who sets the reference anyway?

A sister sang a white whisper
A brother shed her red blood
And a father that grew greener
I see, I hear, I feel……….. I feel

I see the belief in algebra’s doom
Gloom, they paint, they fix the frame
But I fly into my melancholic purple, into timelessness
Into ? timelessness? A time before the time? Is there a precedent? A sequence?
I see the purple skies and other dimensions with my inner eye
A parallel world where red blood
Does not spill on white songs
And green is getting younger, getting stronger, getting wiser, getting smarter

A poem, a picture, a painting, a song;
anything but violence bring them along;
a tolerant whisper or a deafening scream;
anything but violence will realize our dream

Time

Time,
Beginning and end
Can we be hell bound to bend?
When millennium arrives
Who will strive?
A fixture or fake? a hoax or the messiah?
Time, a well-wishers' fantasy
A hell seeker’s diary
And if there is not beginning or end, and if…
Who can tell?
Time?
