Winter's song

I dreamt and searched everywhere
for an eyesome maiden,
with eating eyes and wavy hair
beating heart traversing mine
passionate but honest and truly fair
but couldn't find her anywhere

Eagerness brought me but despair,
even in a cold and snowy winter air
when her eyes sparkled with a flare
her lips like torch flames in the passionate air
she turned away as I kissed her there
then she left and was not there.

Melodious songs composed with care
presented as gifts , unique and rare
could not change her unwavering stare
Lost into the abyss, like a deathbed prayer
torn into pieces with battering wear
she whispered something in midair
and as I returned
I could not find her there

Alas I drove for five hundred miles
Through the desert in a snowy night
where I read a commoner's verse
on the back of a passing truck
"Don't search; I did;
She is not there......."
